On 28 May 2026, the City of Landau organised an awareness-raising day on the risks associated with heatwaves in urban areas.
Educational booths, hands-on activities, expert presentations, and climate walks were used to highlight the challenges and solutions for protection against the heat, with the participation of several local stakeholders such as the fire department, the THW, the State Forestry Department, and RPTU.
This initiative forms part of the LivableCities project, highlighting the need to make cities more resilient and livable in the face of climate change.
It illustrates the importance of cooperation between local stakeholders and of raising residents’ awareness in order to better adapt urban spaces to episodes of extreme heat.
